In this project, we were responsible for MONOKURO Coffee's brand visual identity design and the planning of subsequent collateral materials — from the illustration style and logo concept to the packaging visuals, all coordinated by us.

The task was to find a more restrained approach — using black and white to preserve the warmth of time itself, and to evoke a nostalgic atmosphere.

MONOKURO Coffee is a coffee brand with nostalgic aesthetics at its core, centering on the flavors of deep-roasted charcoal aroma, subtly bitter dark chocolate, and the intertwining warmth of caramel and nuts — like walking into a Showa-era coffee house and taking a sip of coffee that has frozen time.

What the client wanted the brand to convey is the act of reclaiming those overlooked but beautiful moments in an era of breakneck pace — allowing every cup of coffee to be like turning the pages of a yellowed old book, carrying people back to that era of slowing down and quietly savoring time.

In an era of relentless pace, we are always rushing forward, forgetting those simple yet beautiful moments. MONOKURO Coffee presents the nostalgic aesthetics of the Showa era through a black-and-white illustration style — like stills from an old photograph, capturing the warmth and play of light and shadow across time.

The deep-roasted charcoal aroma, the subtly bitter dark chocolate, the warm caramel and nutty notes intertwine into a flavor memory that feels as though it came from a Showa coffee house. Every sip is like turning the yellowed pages of an old book, taking you back to a street corner from the past — back to that era when people slowed down and quietly savored every moment.
